The name game

On a drive back from Peace River and Grande Prairie, Miranda and I decided to narrow down the potential names for our baby. We can’t go on calling the little tyke Spark for much longer.  We went through the alphabet writing out any name we both agreed on. We, of course, stuck to our rules concerning names that could not make the list, and added names that had a hard “T” ending, avoiding a rhythmic quandry that we might be inclined make fun of them. So we had narrowed down the list and then narrowed down that list, till we had 4 girl names and 3 boy names. The boy name list has just been narrowed down further to 2 names, my friend Jason from work just used a name, he and his wife named their son Casey. Here are the names we came up with… the final cut:
Girl – Bronwyn, Daphne, Rosalyn, and Sophie.
Boy – Desmond and Drake.
Additionally, we have bandied about the middle name of Rose for a girl and Odin for a boy.

PErsonally, I love the name Bronwyn “gwen”…fair, blessed…”bron”… breast (OK maybe something Dad won’t want to think about too much when she’s dating)
As a Dad I’d probably prefer the sentiment behind Daphne (which I also have an affinity for) as the woman who transformed into a laurel rather than giver her virtue to Apollo.
Desmond is a great name but … means “from South Munster…” h’mmm
But Drake, now there’s a name to conjure with – Dragon
Drake or Bronwyn – so Arthurian, so evocative

Odin – so he’ll be godlike? Drake Odin Annett – or DOA… not the most auspicious monogram.

Thanks for the invite to name the date, before I meditated I heard july 27, poor Miranda so I released that and after meditation, I picked 7/21, and I heard a name Leanna, any reason that might be, I didn’t see it on your list? xoxoxo sistah smug 🙂
